McConaughey confirms no second season

Matthew McConaugheyOscar winning True Detective star Matthew McConaughey has revealed he will not return after ‘finite’ first season.

McConaughey won the gong for Best Actor at Sunday’s Awards ceremony for Dallas Buyers Club, but he’s currently starring as Rustin Cohle in HBO’s eight-part TV miniseries.

Asked abou a second series during a post Oscar’s interview the star, who shed a heap of body mass for his award winning role was quoted as saying;

“No, I won’t be back for season two. Season one was finite.”

There’s still no word on whether his True Detective co-star, Woody Harrelson, will return in the role of his one-time partner, Detective Martin Hart in Nic Pizzolatto’s series, which has already been given the go ahead for a second series.
